The Minish Cap: Sea Witch’s Charm
Mysterious Shell: These shells can be found all over Hyrule in every sort of place Link can find items. Link can exchange mysterious shells to purchase various figurines depicting characters, monsters, and bosses from Link’s adventures in The Minish Cap.
Rumors speak of a witch who lives beneath the sea who can grant any wish, for a price. Petitioners of her great power should beware, as the cost of her gifts is always something dear, and the wish always comes with some sort of vicious technicality where the witch can win their very soul. It is said she keeps the souls of her poor, unfortunate victims in the golden shell she wears about her neck, its ever-growing contents empowering and emboldening the witch.
----------
I haven’t drawn an item card for each figurine Link can find in the Minish Cap. If I ever reach the point where I have finished drawing all the items in every Zelda game, I may come back and draw the figurines. With the amount of items in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, as well as the number of echoes in Echoes of Wisdom, I don’t think I will reach that point any time soon.

The Minish Cap: The Dragon’s Scroll
The Dragon’s Scroll
Tiger Scrolls: The eight tiger scrolls record the new fighting moves taught to Link by the Blade Brothers. After Link has learned the move from a Blade Brother, he receives the scroll to represent his learning and allow him to review what special moves he has mastered.
This scroll is said to contain the secrets to limitless power. It was inked by a temple master who transcended their mortal form upon completing the scroll. The scroll was left with the cryptic instruction to only be given to the dragon warrior, a presumed mythic figure of a long-ignored prophecy.
----------
There are many props from the Kung Fu Panda movies that I would love to draw.

The Minish Cap: The Golden Touch
The Golden Touch
Tingle Trophy: If Link can complete 100 kinstone fusions throughout his adventures, the man fairy Tingle will give Link a golden trophy to celebrate his commitment to friendship and kinstones.
When a greedy king earned a boon from the gods, they wished that anything they touched would turn to gold. The king eventually learned a bitter lesson when they turned their favored child into a golden statue. The king’s closest advisors learned an even more important lesson when they learned the king’s severed hand still carries the gilded touch, even after the death of the king and the amputation of his hand.

The Minish Cap: Greedy Catfish
Greedy Catfish
Kinstone Bag: This sack stores all the kinstones Link collects during his adventures, swelling to near bursting by the end. Link is given the bag near the start of his adventure after conquering the dangers of the Deepwood Shrine.
This massive catfish is responsible for the disappearance of at least three gold rings. The first, it ate off the finger of an unlucky fisher, and the second and third were lost when the same foolish fisher baited their hook with rings only to lose the lures to the wily fish. There is now an informal bounty on this big fish, with the reward being all the gold the greedy fish has eaten.
----------
Losing a ring in the water only to eat the fish with your missing ring still inside is fairy tale destiny at its finest.

The Minish Cap: Box of Troubles
Box of Troubles
Empty Bottle: These bottles hold potions, water, critters, and all other sorts of odds and ends. Link can find up to four empty bottles in Minish Cap. He will need to fuse kinstones, purchase, and trade for the bottles.
This box was crafted by the gods to hold back all the ills of mortal life. As long as the box remained sealed, the world would remain peaceful. Unfortunately, a curious mortal couldn’t help themselves and they peeked into the box, releasing all the maladies it contained.
---------
Pushes up glasses, Pandora’s box wasn’t actually a box, and instead should have been translated to Pandora’s storage jar.

The Minish Cap: Susan’s last shot
Susan’s last shot
Quiver: When Link gets the bow, he must get some sort of quiver as he can carry arrows. To upgrade how many arrows he can carry at once, he must find the three large quivers throughout the land to eventually hold 99 arrows. He can buy a quiver, earn a quiver through kinstone fusion, and receive one from a Great Fairy if he is wise enough.
Susan Pevensie was one of the great sovereigns of Narnia during its golden age. She was last seen in Narnia on the day of Prince Caspian’s reclamation of his throne, departing through the portal as a sign of good faith. Susan is never again welcomed into Narnia as she has been deemed unfriendly to Narnia by some unknowable and unimpressive rubric.

The Minish Cap: Outlaw’s Cap
Outlaw’s Cap
Outlaw’s cap: This item card doesn’t represent anything specifically in The Minish Cap. I just didn’t know if I wanted to draw Robin Hood’s bow or his hat for the bow item, so I drew both.
The outlaw had only meant to stop the local tax collector who was embezzling from their collections and reporting that locals were underpaying their taxes. The assault on the tax collector’s office was successful, but the cowardly thief fled, spreading news of an outlaw who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. The mere idea of giving money away so infuriated the Plutarch that they declared the outlaw chief enemy of the state, instantly enshrining them as a hero to the people.
----------
Spencer Crittenden, of Harmonquest fame, wore a shirt on a Commander at Home episode that said, “Everything would be fine if rich people had slightly less money.” I like that shirt. If you know where to get it, let me know.

The Minish Cap: Outlaw’s Bow
Outlaw’s Bow
Bow: Link earns this Minish bow by defeating a group of monsters hiding in a Minish-sized cave in the Castor Wilds. The bow changes sizes when Link does so; he can use it shrunk or normal-sized. Like most Legend of Zelda bows, Link can use it to attack enemies from afar, flip switches, and strike distant, often eye-shaped, targets.
This outlaw never intended to be a famous hero fighting for the people against a tyrannical plutocracy. For many years, they lived a simple life deep in the woods where the plutarch’s laws couldn’t reach. Eventually, regular folk fleeing the endless squeeze of the wealth-obsessed monarch brought word of the small folks’ plight to the hooded outlaw, and they could not sit and do nothing while the powerless suffered.
----------
I’m currently reading The Once and Future King by T.H. White, which tells the story of King Arthur. I did not at all expect Robin Hood to show up. There are no more spoilers than that, but I’m excited to see what other oddities will be woven into the familiar tale.

The Minish Cap: Pipe of the Irresistible Melody
Pipe of the Irresistible Melody
Ocarina of Wind: Link must climb to the top of the Fortress of Winds and defeat the golem guardian to earn the ocarina. When Link plays the instrument, a bird is summoned that can quickly carry him across the land to safe landing places Link has previously discovered.
We had a rat problem in this town, worse than any you could imagine. After years of suffering, a piper came and claimed they could rid the town of all the rats in a single night, but it would cost every coin from every person in town. When the time came to pay, the tight-pursed lord refused to pay, and now all the children are missing. Can you please help us?
----------
The Pied Piper came to Hamelin and offered to catch all their rats by luring them into the river to drown, but when the city didn’t pay, he lured all the city’s children into the river.
Dark fairy tales aside, I was in American public schools in the 90’s and 00’s so I have nostalgic memories of learning three blind mice on the recorder.

The Minish Cap: Sparrowhawk Cloak
Sparrowhawk Cloak
Roc’s Cape: This cape allows Link to jump up to high ledges or over small obstacles and to glide over larger gaps and obstacles. He must enter the Palace of the Winds to earn this wonderful cloak.
A wise wizard who was fond of traveling in the form of a sparrowhawk wove a spell into this cloak to ensure he would never again be trapped in the form of a bird. When worn during a transformation, the cloak becomes a minor annoyance buried deep among the feathers that forces the wizard to return to their true shape when removed. If the wizard were to again lose themself in the form of the bird, they would eventually groom away this annoyance and be forced back into their true self.
----------
Ursula K. Le Guin is one of my favorite,e authors and the Earthsea books are some of my favorite books. The wizard Sparrowhawk is a deep and interesting character who grows and matures into a thought-provoking figure. If you haven’t read Ursula K. Le Guin, do so now!
I appreciated getting to draw the cape from Wind Waker since the visual style was consistent between Wind Waker and Minish Cap.

The Minish Cap: Gilded Geese
Gilded Geese
Pegasus Boots: Link receives the pegasus boots from a cobbler whose work is mostly done by diminutive helpers while he sleeps. These boots allow Link to run at incredible speeds, knock into things with incredible force, and eventually make charging sword attacks after learning the incredible technique.
A rare genetic mutation similar to albinism or melanism is aurism. Affected birds have lustrous gold colored feathers and lay similarly golden colored eggs. These rare specimens are eagerly sought after by collectors for their novelty and by con artists for their ability to fool the masses.
----------
A cobbler being helped by sprites while they sleep is a classic fairy tale reference.
I know these don't depict winged boots, but I wanted to find a way to draw the golden goose for this set. If you need some guidance on how these help in a similar way to the Pegasus Boots, the geese depicted here are giant racing geese that the party can ride like Chocobos.
If you need this goose to really by gold and lay gold eggs, we have you covered with some golden eggs coming up later in the set.

The Minish Cap: The Living Puppet
The Living Puppet
Remote Bomb: These bombs detonate only when signaled instead of exploding after their wick burns down. Link can trade his normal bombs for these remote bombs after unlocking the option through fusing kind tones with one of the Minish elders.
For inscrutable reasons, the great fairy deemed it necessary to animate this puppet with a living soul. Now the puppet dreams of nothing more than becoming fully alive so they can grow up, change, and become something more than what they were made to be. It will take nothing short of a miracle to make this puppet’s dreams come true.

Unsurprisingly, I really enjoyed Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. I always sample everything he makes and usually find myself loving it.

The Minish Cap: A ticking time bomb
A ticking time bomb
Bomb: Link is rewarded with the bag necessary to carry bombs after vanquishing the evil that had taken root in the Deepwood shrine. Bombs can break weakened walls, demolish cracked stones, and slay enemies.
Here’s the plan, we lure that green fairy out of his hole and when he’s chasing us we have one of ours sneak in and leave this bomb wrapped up like a gift from a lover. It’s rigged to an alarm so it won’t go off until just before dawn when the fey boy is sure to be sleeping off another night of tomfoolery. If the explosion doesn’t get him, his den collapsing down on his head should finish the job and complete my revenge.
----------
I’m not sure Captain Hook’s bomb from Peter Pan would work, but I’m also not sure it wouldn’t work. It seems reasonable enough for a mechanical alarm clock to have enough force to trigger a repurposed firing mechanism which in turn could light the wick of a bomb.
Makes me wonder if Mythbusters ever tried this, but not enough to actually go google it.

The Minish Cap: The girl’s matchstick
The girl’s matchstick
Flame Lantern: Link finds the flame lantern in the Temple of the Droplets after beating the big blue chu chu. The lantern casts a warm light in a short radius that illuminates the darkness, melts ice, and ignites flammable materials.
The matchstick became a symbol for change in the city when a young matchstick seller was found dead on the street after a frigid night. The masses were always angry that the elites hoarded their wealth, but their anger became a fury after the story of the fallen matchstick girl spread. The fires of revolution have taken hold in the city, and no one what will become of the city when the smoke finally clears.
---------
The Matchstick Girl is one of the more depressing folk tales you can ever hear. It is made worse when you realize the story could be set today without much adjustment.
Do some good into this world.

The Minish Cap: Mole Mitts
Mole Mitts
Mole Mitts: These gloves allow Link to burrow through soft soils and dig holes into the earth. Link must explore the Fortress of the Winds to earn the mole mitts and begin his adventures in digging obsessively for rupees and hearts when he is in need.
Badgermoles are the undisputed masters of tunneling. It would be sacrilege to hunt and kill such a noble beast, but their carcasses can be harvested if shown the proper respect. With badgermole claws and leather, digging gloves can be fashioned that let the wearer almost swim through the earth.

The Minish Cap: Mirror, mirror on the wall…
Mirror, mirror on the wall…
Mirror Shield: If Link can find his way to the Biggoron atop Veil Falls, he can offer up a small shield to the giant and receive the Mirror Shield in return once he has completed a truly valiant deed. The mirror shield blocks all projectiles and reflects back a searing beam of light. Its mirrored surface is also strong enough to deflect melee attacks easily.
A powerful seer displeased their sovereign so greatly that their spirit was cast into a mirror so their gifts might serve whoever sat the throne. After generations serving the bloodline that cursed them, the mirror can now answer questions honestly, while contriving situations that eventually cause the family to suffer dearly. If the seer was so great, could they not have seen this future and avoided it or did they perhaps choose this fate for themselves?
----------
This was supposed to include a sad face and a split happy/sad face, but drawing faces is still far outside of my comfort zone. Even if those faces are simplified masks. I got done enough with this item and moved on.

The Minish Cap: A borrower’s shield.
A borrower’s shield.
Small Shield: Link’s first shield is a simple affair given to him by Princess Zelda. He can use it to block simple attacks and deflect rocks and arrows.
Dogs, cats, and rats can bother the tall folk, but the same creatures are deadly threats to the borrow-folk. Fights between borrow-folk are almost unheard of, but many still carry shields and buckers to protect themselves from the many dangers of their diminutive world. That button missing from your shirt or cuff might be the difference between life and death to the borrow-folk you unwittingly share your home with.
----------
I have so much nostalgia for the stories of the Borrowers. Little people living secretly in the unused cracks of your house is the exact sort of semi-plausible fantasy every kid should enjoy. I definitely built houses and left supply caches out just in case my room had borrowers.

The Minish Cap: The chief’s hook talisman
The chief’s hook talisman
Magical Boomerang: This magically enhanced boomerang strikes harder, travels farther, and can change direction mid-flight. Link must fuse kinstones with the Tingle Siblings to reveal the hidden location of the boomerang.
The stories tell us that long ago the people lived on only one island because there were no other islands in the open ocean. A clever chief decided to fool their siblings into making new islands by exclaiming they had hooked the greatest fish when they had purposely hooked the ocean floor. Paddling hard, the siblings pulled up the ocean floor into island after island for the people to discover and inhabit.
----------
Manaiakalani is Maui’s hook in Polynesian traditions. After the existence of Moana, it is much more difficult to find sources discussing folkloric traditions instead of Disney films.
