I'm not an artist: Banner Spear for Pride

Fly the pride flag high with this banner spear to honor the end of Pride Month.

Pride is a celebration that started as a protest. People fought and continue to fight for the right to be their truest selves. I'm cis-gendered and heterosexual so I never had to fight for the right to be my honest self, but I support and celebrate pride for the work others had to do. We should all support and celebrate pride for the same reasons.

I found hearing a person tell their own story was very helpful. I recommend spending some time listening to the stories and perspectives of others here.

Be excellent to everyone.

Not an artist: Five rings from the Oracles games you can use to smuggle tools into a secure location.

Five rings from the Oracles games you can use to smuggle tools where they aren't allowed.

Charge Ring: This ring reduces the time Link takes to charge up his deadly spin attacks. Link can find it randomly throughout his adventures in Holodrum and Labrynna.

There are plenty of places that have a hard no weapons policy. While there are many ways to hide knives and stilettos, hiding swords is another matter entirely. This small ring can magically hide a sword in a pocket dimension that can be collapsed by saying the secret command phrase. Unfortunately, the collapsing pocket dimension tends to fling the blade wildly, so you should only use this in case of an emergency.

Fan Art: Loads a' Swords from Grayskull

Here are six swords from the various incarnations of She Ra and He Man.

Sword of Protection: This version of She Ra's iconic sword is based on a statue I found when looking for reference when I started this She Ra fan art project. I don't love everything about that statue, but I think it reimagined the blade quite well.

Pegasus ring: The hastening effects of Pegasus seeds are lengthened when Link wears this ring. Link finds this ring in a cave in the Sea of Storms. This ring must be passed through ring secrets to be used in Holodrum.

Speedy McQuick was once a helpful information delivery program before Dr. Nefair tricked them into wearing this virus laden ring. This corrupted ring transformed Speedy into a slow moving sludge monster that has clogged up the information delivery system vital to the net’s success. If someone could separate Speedy from this ring, the ring’s corruption could be purged and Speedy could be restored.

Blast Ring: Link finds this ring on the Eastern Coast of Holodrum, also known as the not bestern coast, after helping the skeleton pirates with their bell problem. Wearing this ring increases bomb damage because I guess people use bombs to attack enemies in these games. Link must transfer this ring using ring secrets if he wants it in Labrynna.

The destruction of property and looting during demonstrations asking for justice for George Floyd’s murder sparked a lot of outrage in the last week. I live near some of that destruction. I have tried to explain to many that when a group of people are summarily denied the ability to civilly demonstrate, like the non-violent demonstration of kneeling during the national anthem, then they must use more overt and inflammatory methods to spark a discussion. If you weren’t talking about race equity before, you should be now.

Not an artist: Recognizing Students

To celebrate the hard work students and educators did during the COVID-19 emergency distance learning.
Go Geoducks Go!
Gopher Pride!
Here are two graduate caps representing the two institutions of higher learning I have had the privilege of attending.

-----------

I believe that every person should have the opportunity to have a complete high-quality education that includes absolutely free post-high school education. That includes four-year colleges and universities, two-year colleges, technical schools, and apprenticeships. I hope one day that America can ensure all people have access to the educational opportunities and supports needed for each person to thrive. People deserve better than to just be surviving.

Go out and find a way to be excellent to everyone.
