I'm not an artist: Five items from A Link to the Past once owned by a monster hunter

Here are five items from A Link to the Past, each with an adventure seed connecting to a monster hunter.

Magic Cape: An invisibility cloak found buried in a grave.

Vicentix De Leon was a famously successful monster hunter that disappeared suddenly after a very public disagreement with the Cagliostro family. Vicentix often said much of their success was due to their cloak of disappearance. Rumors said the cloak was cut from death’s own robes and it has been passed down the De Leon family for generations. With the disappearance of Vicentix, most assume the cloak will never be passed to a future generation.

For their safety, robes are provided to apprentice necromancers that hide their presence from mindless undead. These robes are woven with silken strands infused with necrotic energy that masks the apprentice’s vital life force. Without these robes, many apprentice necromancers would not survive the initial training.

Moon Pendant: One of three pendants required to obtain the master sword from the lost wood. To obtain this pendant, Link must complete a trial of courage given to him by a hermit mystic. If Link can exemplify courage, he is given this as a reward.

A silver pendant in the shape of a waning crescent moon commonly owned by hunters of therianthropes and other shapeshifters. When worn, the wearer’s skin takes on a slight silver sheen. This blanch allows the wearer’s touch to harm creatures vulnerable to silver. Wearing this amulet does not entirely protect the wearer from being eaten by silver-baned creatures. Such creatures appear to be experience considerable discomfort when consuming flesh under the amulet’s enchantment not dissimilar to acid reflux.

The Moon must protect the world when the burning sun rests at the end of each day. The moon is not as strong as their youngest celestial sibling the Sun. The Moon must be far braver than the Sun as it bears the burden of the world’s safety while the sun leaves the sky without the Sun's unbridled power. Any who have shown true courage have earned the right to display the symbol of the Moon proudly.

Pendant of Power: Another of three pendants required to obtain the Master Sword. Link finds this pendant in a bug infested ruin in the eastern desert. Link proves he is worthy of the pendant by defeating three giant burrowing centipedes.

These pendants were made for those who specialize in hunting creatures that cannot stand the light of the day. The pendants absorb the sun’s light and are able to emit the stored light in a singular flash that burns vampires and other lurkers in the dark. In wealthy regions plagued by vampires, it is not an uncommon sight to see rows of these pendants hanging in the sun to ensure enough amulets are charged to protect the affluent citizens. All those that cannot claim to be wealthy would be lucky to see one of these pendants in a lifetime.

The Sun is powerful but its power is un-tempered and undirected. While the Sun provides life giving light and warmth, it also causes droughts and deadly heat waves. Only those who have proven themself as truly powerful can display the token of the Sun without reproach.

Pendant of Wisdom: The final pendant required to obtain the Master Sword. Link finds this pendant at the top of a massive tower built on the summit of Death Mountain

This amulet allows a hunter to track any supernatural beast using a fresh sample of blood or viscera from the monster. The pendant opens up like a locket revealing a hidden recess where a sample from the monster can be placed. Only a fresh sample from a creature can be used and the amulet can only track a creature in this way for a short time. Users report that they feel mentally tugged in the direction of the creature while tracking but the feeling becomes a directionless awareness when the creatures is nearby.

The Sun and Moon are the celestial siblings that chose to stay with the world and protect it from all manner of dangers. The Stars are all the other siblings that chose to leave the skies above the world and travel through the heavens. The stars complete a circuit in the heavens every year and always learn much in their travels. The Stars have not forgotten the world. They send back much of what they have learned through auspicious omens such as showers of falling starts or visits from lonely comets. The wisdom of the Stars is unmatched. Only the wisest among the people earn the right to wear the token of the stars. Those with the mark of the Stars are the sagacious individuals whose advice should always be considered.

Bow and Silver Arrows: Magic arrows able to strike at the heart of evil. They are given to Link by a Fairy as a reward for freeing her from the Pyramid of Power.

Vicentix De Leon first developed their monster hunting skills making a living as a simple hunter and trapper. Vicentix earned great renown as a marksman in their own right before taking up their Grandparents’ mantle of monster hunter when a young Balvarine started to hunt near Vicentix’s home town. Vicentix was known to use many different bows in their pursuits of monsters but none are more massive or unwieldy as Wyrmscourge. Vicentix’s titular achievement with the great-bow was the felling of a deranged sorcerer that had taken the shape of a dragon to terrorize coastal cities.

The Silver Knights of Anor Londo employ these massive bows in the defense of their fallen city. The many high terraces and navigable buttresses provide long open lines of sight for these expertly trained archers to exploit. A rain of arrows the size of a person’s arm are the first welcome for any who would enter the forbidden city.

I made an effort to be more succinct with today's post. I hope it doesn't come off as short because I was rushed or disinterested. I am working to make creating these posts more efficient.

Please don’t profit off my work without my consent. Feel free to personally use this however you would like.

Be excellent to everyone out there.
