I'm not an artist: Five Link's Awakening items found in an Academy for Witches.

Five items from Link’s Awakening you can find at the Sibylline Academy for Witches.

Broom: Link is given the broom in thanks for delivering a letter to a lonely man in a long distance relationship. The relationship is actually a sham. Mr. Write is actually being catfished as the photo included in the letter is not representative of the letter’s author

Any witch worth their salt rides a broom. In her youth, Josephine Sibyl was bullied mercilessly for being too poor to buy a broom. Instead she had to borrow a worn broom from the school and return it at the end of every semester. Josephine Sibyl eventually rose to fame as a wildly talented witch and champion of the common people. Her adventures earned her much renown and even more gold. When Josephine founded the Sibylline Academy for Witches, she left it an enormous endowment to ensure that any student in need have the equipment essential for an arcane education provided at no cost. The endowment has grown over the many years due to Sibylline graduates happily donating to the endowment that gave them the tools to succeed when they were in need.

Shovel: This shovel is actually the deluxe shovel. I don’t think it works better than other shovels in the Zelda games but it costs more, so Link probably thinks it works better. Link can either pay 200 rupees for the shovel or Link can steal the shovel. Link shouldn’t since theft from the working class isn’t very heroic.

The herbalism, botany, horticulture, and alchemy programs at the Sibylline Academy provide students with more practical experience than almost any other school. The natural sciences spire boasts a diverse array of conservatories including all normal biomes as well as a few less mundane ecologies such as caverns lit by a crystal sun, fae groves, and ash dusted flamescapes. Rushing between the many gardens, greenhouses, and labs, students who have chosen to focus on one of these fields are rarely seen without at least a trowel, a pair of clippers, and a pouch.

Boomerang: Link can trade any item for the Boomerang as long as Link is able to find the Goriya willing to trade. The only peaceful Goriya that Link can meet on Koholint Island is hiding in cave on the southwest coast of the island. The creature is invisible, so Link must have a magical lens to spot them.

Witches are encouraged to find ways to incorporate the magical skills they are developing into activities and artistic traditions from their home. Instructors at the academy see this as a way to foster an atmosphere of cultural inclusivity as well as helping to alleviate some homesickness in younger students. Ahrnem, a first year witch, has been developing what they are calling a Maze-a-rang in their independent study hours. When thrown, a labyrinth erupts from the ground beneath the path the flying boomerang. Currently, the maze is not very complicated and only persists for a few minutes after each throw. Ahrnem is hopeful that they will be able to increase the difficulty of the maze and the duration of the enchantment as their mastery of the arcane arts increases.

Map: The dungeon map that reveals the layout of the dungeon Link is currently exploring. This drawing is the first thing I thought of when I saw the icon of the dungeon map. I know it doesn’t really look like a map per se, but it does offer some directions.

When two wealthy alumni offered to lead, and fully fund, a clockwork automata program for the Academy, the board of directors did not hesitate to approve the proposal. The Sibylline Academy now offers a state of the art program in the creation and programing of clockwork constructs. Students learn the basics of design and fabrication by creating skittering clockwork spiders and small flying thopters. Students learn to program their creations by coding basic instructions on punch cards that are fed into small humanoid practice automatons provided by the benefactors. The punch cards students use are enchanted to not allow for violent or harmful programs to be activated. It is strictly against the rules create a program with the intention to do harm with an automata.

Slime Key: This key opens the slime themed dungeon. It is buried in a field of potholes that Link has to dig up until he stumbles upon the key. I could see this drawing being some dense ooze that popped right out of a pothole like a Jell-O shot.

The heads of the science departments maintain a small stock of extremely dangerous or expensive compounds for use in the more advanced classes. These chemicals have been deemed too sensitive for storage in the normal stock rooms and are kept in a high security vault. The door to the vault requires three individuals working in perfect unison to open. Two must simultaneously turn two unique keys in two disparate locks as the third person places their hand in the mouth of an ornate wolf statue at the door. The head of alchemy keeps their obsidian key in an animate caustic jelly that can dissolves nearly any substance. Tales of careless students losing limbs to the jelly are told to scare first year students away from sneaking around the alchemy labs.

-----------

I originally wanted to have some sort of dark undercurrent at the Sibylline Academy for Witches, but then I was reading about what Lebron James is doing in Akron, Ohio and I just wanted their to be a wholesome place for witches of all backgrounds to learn their craft.

Please don’t profit of my work without my permission, but feel free to use these personally as you see fit.

With all the darkness and negativity in the world, I hope you go out there get involved. Stand up for what is right, even if that means kneeling. Don’t succumb to fear and hate.
Be excellent to everyone, whenever you can.
-Ceph
