I'm not an artist: Six items from Ocarina of Time members of a Super Sentai use to transform.

Six items from Ocarina of Time Super Sentai rangers use to transform.

Fire Medallion: Each medallion represents a Sage that Link has helped awaken to their true power. While the medallions do not add any new abilities, they are an artful way to track a core part of Link’s quest to confront Ganondorf. The Goron hero Darunia bestowed Link with his medallion after Link helped him defeat Volvagia, the magma dragon.

The material world is precariously balanced between two diametrically opposed forces. The Primal Wardens defend the material world from outsiders that would try to tip the scales in their favor. The Green Warden calls upon the strength of the earth to gain the size and power of the Rhino.

Forest Medallion: The point I find most interesting about the Sages is that there are no Sages in times of peace. During such calm eras, there are those who have the innate ability to possibly awaken as a sage. Saria, with Link’s help, purges the Forest Temple of its corruption and in doing so awakens as the Sage of the Forest, giving Link this medallion to symbolize her support.

The Red Warden channels the raw energy of fire to become a living gout of flame. With their ability to shoot burning rays, manipulate open flames, and even step between nearby fires, the Red Warden is an expert at battlefield manipulation. This mastery of the battlefield has proven to be the key to overcoming the seemingly endless hordes of Order and Chaos

Water Medallion: Each Sage must go through a personally transformative event as part of their awakening. Princess Ruto of the Zora entered the labyrinthine Water Temple and helped Link defeat the creature cursing her people. She readily understood the gravity of her responsibility as a sage. Because of that, she gives Link the medallion while breaking off their engagement, sacrificing their happiness to save the world.

The last Blue Warden was killed by a rare alliance between the calamitous powers. At the moment of their death, the next individual destined to take up the mantle of Blue Warden felt an irresistible calling to seek out the fallen Warden’s Medallion. When they finally touched the Medallion it channeled the powers of the crashing wave and the spirits of previous Blue Wardens through the newly awakened Warden. This ancestral connection allows the current Blue Warden to take on the form of the hundred-handed spirit squid.

Spirit Medallion: Many saw the need to rise up against the tyrannical influences casting a shadow across the land. Nabooru, Sage of Spirit, was captured infiltrating the spirit temple in an attempt to fight back against Ganondorf. Nabooru was brainwashed to serve Ganondorf as the fearsome Iron Knuckle until Link defeats her and the Witches Twinrova. With her freedom, comes her awakening as the Sage of Spirit and her gifting this medal to Link.

The White Warden of the Winds is a well-known figure in the many lands under the protection of the Wardens. When they manifest their primal powers they take on aspects of the Great Wind Toad, a popular character from myth. Regular people are much more accepting and welcoming of familiar heroes from the past, so the gregarious White Warden enjoys the adoration of the people much more directly than any other Warden.

Light Medallion: When Link draws the Master Sword from the Temple of Light, Rauru, the ancient Hylian and Sage of Light, uses his incredible power to hold Link in time to allow him to mature into the adult hero he is destined to be. Rauru gives Link the Light Medallion and explains that Link must gather five other Medallions by awakening the other Sages. He also continues to offer Link guidance in the form of a great talking owl.

The forces of Order and Chaos are always attempting to unsettle the delicate balance that keeps the material world from sliding into the outer realms. When the World Spirit called the first four elemental Wardens to defend the material world from outsiders, Order raised a mortal champion of its own. The Crystal Warden extols the virtues of Order to all that will listen and exterminates those who resist with lethal efficiency.

Shadow Medallion: Link is given this medal by Impa, the newly awakened Sage of Shadow. Impa spent most of her life as a secret ninja bodyguard to the Hylian royal family. Impa needs Link’s help in cleansing a dark spirit from a secret black ops base beneath the Kakariko village graveyard. When Link conquers the monster, Impa awakens as the Shadow Sage and gives up the mantle of Princess Zelda’s protector.

In the outer planes, the forces of Order and Chaos engage in a ceaseless conflict, each hoping to find some way to make a meaningful gain in this eternal stalemate. Hoping to push the denizens of the material plane to the side of Chaos, a mortal who most embodied true Chaos was chosen to become the Vibrant Warden. The Vibrant Warden leads the forces of Chaos in the Material Plane, and always works to spread Chaos’ influence in all the realms.

Sorry if this felt a little disjointed. I wrote some of it before I went on vacation and the rest after I came home, with a cold of course.

I have always liked Order being just as dangerous to regular people as Chaos. In my games, I try to play with these forces more than Good versus Evil.

Please use my work personally as you see fit, but do not profit off my efforts without my consent.

Go out there and be excellent to everyone.
