I'm not artist: Six items from Ocarina of time made by Turtle Shell Ablatives, a ProtecCo company.

Six items from Ocarina of Time made by Turtle Shell Ablatives, a ProtecCo company.

Deku Shield: I think the Deku Shield is the game’s most thematically interesting shield as it is made from the bark of the Great Deku Tree and inscribed with the Kokiri symbol. Those two facts really ground the shield in the lore of the world. It's only usable by child Link and is extremely vulnerable to flame so it is often relegated to being a basic or starter shield rather than a memorable item.
I remember really liking how this came out when I drew it but looking at it now I'm not impressed. I guess that is the march of progress.

For the holy warrior more concerned with venerating the gods of nature then personal protection there is the Ironwood Buckler. Bark harvested from sanctified ironwood trees is inscribed with the symbol of your choice and then treated with resins and holy oils to keep it as hard as iron. Don't let prohibitions against metal armor keep you from safely spreading the will of the gods to even the most hostile of audiences.

Hylian Shield: Link can use the Hylian Shield as a child or an adult. In its adult use, it is the iconic shield of the Zelda franchise, but as a child, Link isn’t strong enough to use it normally and must use it as a sort of turtle shell, limiting his mobility but providing excellent defense. I was also unaware of an unsubstantiated theory spawned by the iconography of this shield concerning the missing fourth piece of the Triforce.

So you've got a cause, but you aren't sure enough people know what you serve. A Banded Bulwark with the optional sigil offers the outstanding protection Turtle Shell Shields is famous for, while also proudly displaying a hand painted sigil, icon, or symbol of your choice. This line is a great option for mercenary companies looking to really push their brand, crusader orders hoping to garner the favor of the gods, or even knights needing instant recognition at their next tourney.

Mirror shield: Ever since Perseus went to fight Medusa, who is a Gorgon, not a medusa, adventurers have been carrying mirrored shields.

A knight in shining armor better have a shining shield. The Evershine coating on the Adamantium Aegis ensures its mirror shine will never scratch or dull, and the rugged adamantium construction allows for even the deadliest of blows to be blocked. You can’t take a castle wall with you to battle, but the Adamantium Aegis is about as close as you can get.

Kokiri Tunic: The iconic outfit for Link. The simple green tunic and matching hat are a core piece of the Zelda franchise. My image can be any sort of shirt you need in your game.

When you make a qualifying purchase, Turtle Shell Ablatives will send you a limited edition Turtle Tunic absolutely free. This Tunic comes in a vibrant green and the turtle shell emblem embroidered on the back bears a minor deflection charm. Even when you can’t wear our armor, we want to make sure we can keep you safe.

Goron Tunic: A magical tunic that provides Link the Goron’s ability to withstand heat and flame. It is necessary to navigate the volcanic dungeon inside of Death Mountain. I went a little tongue and cheek with my upgraded versions of the tunic for Ocarina of Time.

Are you a grill master, or a forge master, or can you just not stand the heat in the kitchen? Our Fire Ward utility set keeps you cool and comfortable in even the hottest of conditions. You can work over an open flame or a lava seam with confidence knowing you are protected from the searing heat. Remember, complete heat protection is only provided if all three pieces of the Fire Ward set are worn at once.

Zora Tunic: This magical tunic allows Link to breathe underwater. It doesn’t allow Link to swim more effectively or to swim against his unnaturally strong buoyancy unlike other swimming and water-themed items in other Zelda games. Looking back at this drawing, I should have gone in and made the mud be a different color or texture from the rest of the waders.

Some waders only keep you dry below the chest, but our Deep Water Waders are specially designed to allow the wearer to wade below the surface of the water without getting wet. Each pair of waders is hand ensorcelled to create a stable pocket of breathable air around the wearer when they open the spell pouch conveniently located on the chest. Due to the arcane limits of the materials, the air bubble is temporary so we recommend having an alternative means of breathing for extended underwater excursions such as gillyweed or a band of bated breath

In the coming year, I am hoping to keep my write-ups a little tighter. Not only because of time limitations but because I have a tendency to ramble and overwrite passages.

I hope the paid promotions for Turtle Shell Ablatives was an enjoyable theme. I feel like in high fantasy universes, there is the possibility of mega-corps producing magical goods and annoying ads for those goods.

Feel free to use my work personally how you see fit but please don’t profit off my efforts without my consent.

Go out there and start 2019 being excellent to everyone!
