I'm not an artist: Five masks from Majora's Mask worn by outsiders.

Five masks from Majora's Mask worn by outsiders.

All-Night Mask: If Link stops the mugging of an old lady we talked about when we were discussing the bomb bags, the All-Night Mask will be available for purchase from the curiosity shop later in the week. While Link can adventure for 72 hours straight without ever needing to sleep, he is unable to stay awake through Anju’s Grandmother’s stories. The power of this mask ensures nothing can put its wearer to sleep, so Link can answer the old woman’s questions eventually earning two pieces of heart.

Those living in the lands ruled by vampire oligarchy do not take the image of Nosferatu lightly. Thought by many to be the first vampire that brought the curse of bloodthirst to these lands, the vampiric aristocracy worship the ancient creature as a pale patron saint of their kind. The mortal serf class privately malign the name Nosferatu and would shun any who would choose to wear its image.

Blast Mask: Yet another reward relating to saving the old woman from being mugged, Link gets this mask explicitly as a reward from the Old lady for his help. Apparently this masked is filled with gunpowder, which allows Link to cause explosions while wearing it. If Link is clever enough to use his shield at the same time, which I was not, he can avoid the damage of being at the center of an explosion.

Emelie was a member of a special ops squad specializing in infiltration and exfiltration in high threat environments. Their bloody work and self-sacrifice helped usher in an unprecedented time of peace in the Pleiades Sector, but the experience left them scarred psychically and physically. Wanting to hide their scarred face and stay isolated from the world, Emelie still wears their military armor in everyday life, ensuring most give them a wide berth.

Stone Mask: If using the Lens of Truth, Link may find a soldier so forgettable they became literally invisible, he is asked to find a cure. A dose of any potion does the job. As a token of gratitude, the soldier gives Link this mask which makes him “as plain as stone” when wearing the mask. In practice, this means that Link becomes invisible to most, but not all, inhabitants of Termina.

According to custom, the shaman of the stone clan must live apart from the clan to be a pure conduit for the spirits of nature and the honored ancestors. While every member of the tribe can express gratitude for the contributions of the shaman, almost none are willing to be spotted interacting with the shaman. It is also common to hide children from the shaman for fear the child is identified as a spirit conduit and taken to train in isolation under the shaman.

Great Fairy Mask: The first reward for collecting stray faeries that Link gets from the North Clock Town Great Faerie, this mask notifies Link if he is in a room with a stray faerie and it attracts free flying nearby faeries towards him, making collection easier. Also, this mask has some amazing hair that has physics applied to it, which is not the norm.

Those odd individuals known as Speakers of the Green are the mortal servants of the Estival Court in the Faerie. The mortals were raised in the Faerie, often after having been secretly swapped for a changeling in infancy, where they were trained in diplomacy, customs of the fey courts, and subterfuge. Time affects mortals strangely while living in the fey realms as they only seem to age while they are in the mortal world; meaning some Green Speakers are mortals taken from their families hundreds of years in the past.

Deku Mask: The first of the four masks that allow Link to transform his shape. Each of these masks contains the spirit of a being whose shape Link assumes when he wears the respective mask. At the open of the game, Link is cursed by Skull Kid by having the mask placed on him without him being able to remove it until learning a magical song from the creepy Mask Salesman.

Wolves have been a bane for the people of the Black Sands river valley for generations. While most agree the wolves are pests worthy of extermination, at least one person believes them to be children of the gods. This feral priest hides their true identity behind a mask with a great mane of white hair when they help the wolves ambush explorers hoping to press deeper into the wild valley.

Buckle up for a few posts of nothing but masks and other headgear items.

In behind the scenes news, I just finished drawing all the items in Oracle of Ages. I had previously finished a separate set for the magic rings that appeared in both Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons because I was not willing to draw all those rings twice.

Those won’t be posted for a while, but I wanted to let everyone know I had plenty in the hopper. Keep checking in to see new items.

Please use my work personally however you see fit, but do not profit off my efforts without my consent.

Remember to always be excellent to everyone.
