I'm not an artist: The penultimate five items from Oracle of Ages you can find long after an apocalyptic disaster.

The penultimate five items from Oracle of Ages you can find long after an apocalyptic disaster.

Ancient Wood: This is the second Essence of Time Link recovers in his adventure. This essence is guarded by a crush-happy floating stone head with four faces in the depths of the Wing Dungeon.

It wasn’t long after the collapse that nature began to reclaim the civilized places. Weeds pushed through cracks opened by wind, rain, and ice. Now those first seeds that sprouted in those first cracks are great old trees grown tall with the passing of time.

Echoing Howl: The third Essence of Time is guarded by the terrifying Shadow Hag inside the Moonlit Grotto of Crescent Island.

Most of the people that survived the collapse were spared because they lived on isolated islands where the destruction of the connected world could not reach. When the collapse destroyed our ability to communicate and travel around the world, these islands were left to fend for themselves with few modern conveniences. The communities that looked to artifacts of their past for guidance on how to survive were the ones that prospered and ultimately saved the species from extinction.

Burning Flame: The fourth Essence of Time is guarded by a swarm of winged eyeballs inside the Skull Dungeon beneath Symmetry City.

As the story of the collapse fades from history into myth, taboos against using pre-collapse artifacts have begun to soften. Those bold or foolish enough to hunt out such items mostly find unusable junk, but occasionally stumble upon functional objects whose advanced technology can only be described as magic. As more and more functional artifacts are found, curious individuals are beginning to experiment with objects that may have the power to let them be the masters of their fate or be crushed under the wheel of time.

----------

This week I posted six red weapons from apocalypses/dystopias so I thought that this week’s post should be long after one, or maybe even six, apocalypses.

I am sorry if you were looking for an escape from all this depressing talk surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. I am finding it difficult to think and write about anything positive these days.

Next week is the final five items from Oracle of Ages. After that, I will post the collected PDF of all the items I have posted over the six months. You can always find all the other completed sets under the collected tag.

Please use my work personally how you see fit, but do not profit off my efforts without my consent.

Pre-apocalypse, peri-apocalypse, or post-apocalypse, make sure you are excellent to everyone.
