Not an artist: Five rings from the Oracles games that transform the wearer into a monster.

Five rings from the Oracles games that transform the wearer into a monster.

Octo Ring: Wearing this ring transforms Link into an Octorok, but does not give him their classic rock spitting attack. Link can find this randomly throughout his adventures in Holodrum and Labrynna. He can also consistently find this ring in a cave on the Holodrum Plain, or by scoring 350 points in the Lynna Village Shooting Gallery.

This highly assuming ring allows the wearer to transform themself into an octopus. When not in use, the tentacle on the ring writhes and gropes as if it is trying to escape the confines of the band. Rumors circulate that practiced users can independently shift their arms and legs into tentacles without having to fully transform.

Moblin Ring: Wearing this ring visually transforms into a Moblin. He can find it randomly throughout both his adventures. He can also consistently find this ring in a cave in Holodrum’s Woods of Winter during Autumn using the magnetic glove.

In the direst circumstances and in the zealous defense of their church, worshippers of the Devouring Kraken can be imbued with a mote of their uncaring patron’s power. To receive this power, the defenders must kneel before the head of their church, the Teuthex, and feel the touch of the clergy’s tentacle tipped ring. How the Kraken’s power manifests is unique to each individual, but exposure to such raw power is inevitably fatal.

Like Like Ring: Wearing this ring transforms Link into a shield craving like like. He can find it randomly during his travels, but can also find it in a chest inside of Jabu-Jabu’s Belly in Labrynna.

This cursed ring was created to punish a notorious jewel thief that had been pilfering from the most secure vanities in the country. Whoever dons this ring is instantly transformed into a gecko and the transformation cannot be reversed without removing the ring which unfortunately merges with the wearer’s new lizard form. Before the jewel thief could be duped, a young child slipped the ring on one of their fingers. Now the search is on for a way to reverse the transformation without removing the child’s fingers one by one.

Subrosian Ring: This ring transforms Link into the hooded, jawa-esque, form of a Subrosian. He can find it on Holodrum’s Mt.Cucco, in a cave where Talon is sleeping deeply. As it can only be found in Holodrum, Link must transfer the ring using Vasu’s Blue and Red snakes for ring fortunes.

Getting where you want to go in the deep places of the world is a daunting task. If you find yourself looking for a place where no tunnels lead, look no further than the band of the wurm. Slipping this ring on after completing a lengthy ritual allows a person to begin the ghastly process of metamorphosing into a large wurm capable of boring through the strongest of bedrock, but be careful not to remain in this shape too long, lest you forget what you really are.

First Gen Ring: Wearing this ring changes Link’s sprite to the 8-bit version from previous games. It, unfortunately, disables his ability to use items, just like all other transformation rings. This ring is found randomly during Link’s travels.

This ring was found in a sealed note beside the mutilated body of a jeweler that read, “Zed, the final lamentation. The ring has changed ownership multiple times, but every owner has met some grisly demise. The last confirmed owner was found dead with grotesque arabesques cut from their skin and their body pierces with innumerable hooks, pins, and needles.

----------

I really love the Cenobites from the Hellraiser universe. Those movies are some of my favorite horror flicks to return to time and again. Most of them are trash, but I love them all.

Don’t let the world turn you into a monster. Strive to care about everyone you know and everyone you don’t know. Imagine what life must be like for other people. Empathize with those you don’t think you have anything in common with. Only by actively trying to stave off apathy will we be able to make this world a better place for all people.

Please use my work personally as you see fit, but do not profit off my efforts without my consent.

Now more than ever, be excellent to everyone.
-Ceph
