I'm not an artist: Five items from Oracle of Ages one could find in the far future of a fantasy world.

Five items from Oracle of Ages one could find in the far future fantasy universe.

Boomerang: The boomerang is not a required item or even a dungeon item in Oracle of Ages. Link can win it in the Goron Shooting Gallery in the Rolling Ridge but doesn’t have to in order to stop Veran and save Labrynna. The Oracle of Ages boomerang does all the standard boomerang stuff including stunning enemies and grabbing items.

Advancements in drone technology have made increasingly robust and useful drones. The tri-rang system is a modular drone that can be configured for many functionalities including surveying new planets, surveilling persons of interest, package delivery, and combat support. To deploy the drone, one need only throw it like a boomerang and command it through the standard neural interface.

Cane of Somaria: The cane is the dungeon item in the Crown Dungeon where Link uses it to solve puzzles and divert enemies. With the cane, Link can summon a block that holds buttons down or blocks enemy attacks. This cane is similar to the one found in A Link to the Past. The main difference is that the blocks summoned by the Cane of Somaria in Oracle of Ages do not harm enemies. The cane also doesn’t require magical energy as Link has not to use.

There are those in the universe that would have you believe that magic and technology are entirely incompatible. With enchanted staff in hand, the prophets of the Nigh Weaver violently evangelize such beliefs throughout the fringes of settled space. They see technology as a perverse attempt to recreate the arcane beauty that they see as being fundamental to the existence of the universe.

Biggoron’s Sword: The biggoron sword is only available in linked games where Link has met a bright red Goron in the caves beneath the Biggoron in Holodrum. This goron says they are a descendant of a Goron who lived in Rolling Ridge in Labrynna and is wondering about the meaning of a secret found in their ancestor’s journal. If Link travels to the past age in Labrynna, he can meet the elder and ask them about the secret. Oddly enough, they hadn’t thought of the secret yet but reward Link for giving them that insight with the chance to win the Biggoron Sword in the Goron Shooting Gallery. The Biggoron sword is massive and must be wielded with both Link’s hands.

One can’t talk about chainsaw swords without Warhammer 40k coming to mind. I don’t like the 40k universe. Almost everything about it makes me roll my eyes. In experiencing most of the Games Workshops IP’s, I have found that I just don’t really enjoy their sensibilities when it comes to world-building. If it is your cup of tea, go for it, but I am confident in saying that it just isn’t for me.

While they may cut an impressive silhouette, chainsaws are not the most effective weapon as they are prone to jamming and breaking. On worlds where the plant life ceaselessly grows at supernatural speeds, colonizers wage a constant war against the ever-encroaching vegetation. When the plants are aided by druids or other exo-naturalists sympathizers that worship nature in its untamed ferocity, colonizers turn their chainsaws from limbs of wood to limbs of flesh and bone.

Bombchu: In the oracles games, bombchus fixate upon a single enemy when dropped and chase them down and explode upon impact. If there isn’t any enemy to kamikaze attack, the bombchu will just run straight away from Link. While I don’t think they are necessary to defeat the game, they do add a bit of a different dynamic when having to bomb enemies. I’m also not sure if these are the real live bombchus like the ones that run around Termina or the constructs that were made in their image. Either way, these explosive little sucks sure do pack a punch.

No defense is perfect, and the two professional sappers known only by their handles the Will and the Way aim to test that theory against the best defenses in the universe. Whether it is arcane wards, voidsteel armor plating, or an inscrutable labyrinth, the Will and the Way can figure out a way through. One of their favorite ways to gather information about a target is by deploying automated sensor-sapper droids. These tiny droids are outfitted with the best magical and technological enhancements money can buy. They are shielded against magical and mundane detection and are designed to self destruct in a contextually appropriate way if they cannot return to their base of operations.

To take a step back and talk about the drawings rather than the zelda this week, I find that I really liked the Cane, the chainsaw sword, and the round droid drawing. None of them are perfect, and returning to them after a while, I can easily pick out things I didn’t do well and many places to grow. Overall though I really enjoyed drawing these and I think the drawings came out pretty well considering my skill level. I don’t feel that I am now able to say I’m by any means good at drawing, but I can confidently say I am not absolutely terrible at drawing. That might seem like a small accolade, but it feels really cool to know my skills are growing.

Please use my efforts personally however you see fit, but do not profit off my efforts without my consent.

It has been crazy cold for me the past few days and on the other side of the world, Australia seems to be more fire than anything else. The world is pretty crazy right now, so be excellent to everyone.
