I'm not an artist: Six items from Oracle of Ages found in a secret government facility.

Six items from Oracle of Ages found in a secret government facility.

Huge Maku Seed: This huge seed acts as a powerful focus of good energy allowing Link to penetrate the barrier surrounding the Black Tower so he can finally confront Veran. Link must collect all eight of  Essences of Time from the eight dungeons throughout Labrynna. Once he has every essence, he must return them to the Maku Tree so she can create the seed.

The Section for Occult Research and Defense, most commonly referred to as S.O.R.D., was created after a series of very public mass suicides were linked to prophecies spoken more than six hundred years ago. Officially, this section is only responsible for monitoring dangerous cult activity, but it also has a classified mission to keep occult and paranormal activity from causing harm. In the pursuit of that mission, S.O.R.D. has collected a number of interesting objects, including an avocado tree whose fruit can be used to accurately predict the future when its roots are bathed with blood.

Gasha Seed: These seeds can be found and purchased throughout Link’s adventures in Labrynna. After planting a seed in soft soil, Link must wait a while before returning to a find full-grown Gasha Tree with a single Gasha Nut. These nuts function like gashapon pods, randomly containing a heart, magic ring, magic potion, fairy, rupees, or even a piece of heart. After the nut is harvested, the tree withers and Link can plant another gasha seed for a chance at even more great prizes.

Not all of S.O.R.D.’s collection is magical in nature. Some items are simply too dangerous to be out in the world. S.O.R.D. recently confiscated a cache of flash drives containing malware designed by a hacking collective known as the Seeds of Ygg that hopes to precipitate a global dark age by hijacking power grids across the globe.

Brother Emblem: This emblem marks Link as an honorary member of the Goron people, allowing him access to the Goron only Rolling Ridge. To earn this honor, Link must score a perfect score in the Goron dance, a Simon-Says style minigame that drove me nuts as a kid.

Not every item kept by S.O.R.D. is even dangerous. In the memorial hall, there is a token for every agent that fell in the line of duty. Many agents were former military, so many of the memorial tokens are well-worn dog tags or other insignia from uniforms.

Book of Seals: I mentioned the book of seals when I talked about the Fairy powder hidden in the back of the Eyeglass Island Library. This book is required to successfully navigate the trap-laden back passages to obtain the powder. The book is only available in the current Era, as it is a retrospective covering the crazy back passages that used to be in the Library. Only after getting the book can Link travel back to the past age and use the book’s clues to navigate the dangerous passages.

Over the years, S.O.R.D. agents have collected many tarot cards from fortune tellers, diviners, and magicians. Most of these prove to be relatively innocuous, but some could be very dangerous in the wrong hands. The most dangerous of these cards are kept in a folio designed to keep the cards hidden and inert.

Graveyard Key: Link must find this key in a secret cave located in the southern section of the Yoll Graveyard. The key allows Link to enter the first dungeon in Oracle of Ages, the Spirit’s Grave.

In her last mission as a field agent before accepting a promotion, Mae Drinkwater discovered the location of a lost mass grave that was the center of a widespread haunting. Mae sanctified each body in the mass grave allowing for the spirits trapped there to move on from this world. As a token of gratitude, Mae was given a powerful fetish by the town’s elders so that their blessing could always protect her.

No links today. I may try to go back in and update the links later, but I am getting busy again as the January break from school is officially over.

I can say that the primary inspiration for S.O.R.D. is pretty obviously B.P.R.D. with some Librarians or Warehouse 13 in there as well.

Please use my work personally however you see fit, but do not profit off my efforts without my consent.

Be excellent to everyone.

Edit: updated the post with links.
