I'm not an artist: Six items from Ocarina of Time one could find in a strange carnival.

Six items from Ocarina of Time one could find in a strange carnival.

Weird Egg: This egg is given to Link by Malon, the daughter of the ranch owner Talon. She wants Link to incubate the egg so that the newly hatched cucco can wake up her sleepy father.

The Tent of Oddities contains strange and horrific objects gathered from all corners of this world and others. The tour guide is eager to explain that the egg contains one of the thirteen beasts of calamity, and the rune painted on egg holds the creature inside in a delicate stasis. Woe to any that release this monster from its stasis as it would visit untold destruction on the land.

Cucco: Hatching from the weird egg, this cucco is the only thing that will wake Talon. Based on observations in this and other Zelda games, the cucco life cycle is entirely dependent on narrative demands.

The rare dire chicken is the most famous part of the circus’ traveling menagerie. Dire chickens are as large as a child and have a massive wingspan. Unencumbered, the dire chicken is able to soar gracefully, but they can also fly while carrying a great weight, albeit much more slowly.

Zelda’s Letter: This letter of introduction from Princess Zelda is intended to give Link access to the Death Mountain trail, currently off-limits as it is extremely hazardous. While the letter gets Link through the gate to Death Mountain, the gatekeeper does not believe that Link is any kind of hero and literally laughs in his face.

A select few visitors to the carnival are invited to meet with the speaking stones. The invitation tells the tale of how the stones were discovered at the end of a secret passage inside a ruined temple lost long ago in the depths of the Blood Marsh. The stones catch glimpses of the future and whisper cryptic answers to the first five questions asked to them.

Gerudo Token: This token denotes Link’s acceptance into the Gerudo tribe. He must complete a challenge that tests his wits and abilities by sneaking past guards to release imprisoned carpenters.

Included in the entrance fee is one ticket to the Arachnitorium, the most spiderific attraction in the world! Trained spiders dazzle the crowds with daring feats of acrobatics and beautiful works of art that emerge from the weaving of intricate webs. The troupes of spiders are understandably unnerving, but those who gaze too long on the ringmaster find something about them unsettling on a primal level.

Weird carnivals are a staple for fantastical stories. The carnival in my head was odd, but not necessarily malevolent. More Darkmoon Faire and less Something Wicked This Way Comes

Use my work personally however you see fit, but do not profit off my work without my consent.

Go out there and be excellent to everyone.
