Not an artist: Five items from Oracle of Seasons you can find in an inter-dimensional competition.

Five items from Oracle of Seasons you can find in an inter-dimensional competition.

Huge Maku Seed: This magical seed is given to Link by the Maku Tree after Link gathers all eight Essences of Nature. The seed acts as a powerful focus for the Maku Tree’s power, allowing Link to penetrate the dark forces that have kept Link from entering General Onox’s Castle to save Din and defeat the evil threatening Holodrum.

Every generation there is a grand tournament to determine which realm is truly superior. The throngs of spectators watching the competitions need to drink something, so merchants from across the multiverse come to peddle their wares. Some drinks are sweet, others bitter, and some are even a bit magic.

Gash Seed: Gasha seeds quickly grow into magical nut-bearing trees when planted in the soft soil that dots the landscape of Holodrum. To grow into full maturity, Link must slay forty enemies. The exact mechanism that converts far off death-dealing into tree growth is one of the many small mysteries within the Zelda franchise.
Link can find these seeds in a variety of places as he travels through Holodrum. They can be purchased, found in chests, dropped by Syrup the apprentice witch, and won as prizes in various mini-games.

My drawing is inspired by how cashew tree fruit actually looks. I didn’t know what cashew fruit looked like, and I also didn’t know that the flesh of the fruit is extremely toxic and cashews must be processed with great care to avoid death. The more you know.

Witchfruit grow on otherworldly trees tended by covens of dryad witches. The fruits are extremely toxic, so instead of eating them, the tree nymphs use the magical fruits in their divination rituals. The dryads’ readings of the future are so accurate that they are bound with a curse of silence until the end of the tournament.

Ribbon: Link can purchase this ribbon from the Subrosian Market in exchange for the Star Shaped Ore. While it may not be immediately obvious what the benefit of the ribbon is, Link can eventually give it as a gift to Rosa, the theoretically female Subrosian and bearer of the key that unlocks all the doors in Subrosia. In exchange for such a wonderful gift, Rosa agrees to go on a date with Link. She will follow Link around Subrosia and she will be happy to unlock any locked door the pair encounters during their stroll.

The victor of the grand tournament is awarded the medal of the four winds. It ensures safe passage throughout all the realms so that the champion is not quickly besieged by bitter rivals and vengeful family members. As there is only one tournament every generation, there are few who have ever seen such a medal, and even fewer who have held one.

So, I’m writing this on the 16th of January. Four days before Donald Trump is set to leave the white house and Joe Biden is set to become the new president of the US. I’m not sure how smoothly this will go, especially considering how poorly the ceremonial confirmation of the electoral college went on January 6th. Hopefully, it all went smoothly, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were problems. With the new president, I sincerely hope real positive changes can happen in the US to improve the lives of all of its citizens, not just the ultra-wealthy. Fingers crossed.

Be excellent to everyone.
