Not an artist: Four items from Oracle of Seasons used to figure out what should be done.

Four items from Oracle of Seasons used to figure out what should be done.

Gift of Time: The second of the eight essences of nature. Link must defeat the dodongo in the Snake’s Remains to earn this essence. With it, he is reminded that patience is a virtue and even the best things take time to grow.

According to its creator, they did not invent the device, rather the idea for the device came to them through divine inspiration. Whether or not its divine origins are to be believed, there is no doubting that this device is able to answer questions with absolute truth. Unfortunately, the device only answers questions by responding with a series of symbols that must be interpreted by experts using extensive reference material or extremely rare savants.

Bright Sun: The fearsome Mothula guards this essence of nature in the Poison Moth’s Lair. Holding the third essence, Link sees that all things are nurtured by the warm light of the sun.

Many sun worshipers hold all celestial objects as divine manifestations of the great solar power. This mirror topped staff allows for divinations to be made by reflecting the light of the sun, moon, or stars and interpreting the shapes that are cast in the mirror’s reflection.

Soothing Rain: Water is life. Link must venture through the Dancing Dragon Dungeon and defeat the monocular Ghoma to earn this fourth essence of nature.

The earliest and perhaps least reliable form of prognostication was interpreting the weather. Is the weather fair or foul when setting out on your journey? Is the rain a welcome reprieve or a destructive downpour? The answers to such questions can guide a person towards their true path.

If you haven’t read the His Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullman, I wholeheartedly recommend them. It is a complete coming of age fantasy trilogy with amazing world-building and artful exploration of meaningful topics. I also recommend HBO’s His Dark Materials series whose third and final season my partner and I are eagerly awaiting.

I am pre-writing these posts so I am not able to tell exactly what next great upheaval will be rising in the news cycle. What I do know is that if we are all excellent to everyone, things can get better.

Be excellent to everyone.
